Panel Discussion & Vendor Expo

The internet has changed the world as we know it and Northern Virginia has become a global hub for data center infrastructure.  In 1997, AOL constructed the first purpose-built data center in Loudoun County to support the AOL Mail platform.  In 2016, Infomart Data Centers purchased the facility from AOL and began the process of retrofitting the facility into a multi-tenant property.

The panel will discuss the following and take Q&A from the audience:

  • Why is it so important to extend the lifetime value of a data center facility?
  • What are the nuances of converting a legacy enterprise data center into a wholesale colocation facility?
  • What was on AOL's mind when they built the facility?
  • What strategies should vendors and providers develop to prepare for facilities requiring recommissioning?

Speakers Include:
Kelly Morgan, Vice President, 451 Group
Al Nielsen, Vice President Corporate Services, Oath
Don Miller, Vice President, Holder Construction
Buddy Rizer, Executive Director for Economic Development, Loudoun County, VA
